A 27-year veteran of the Muskogee, Oklahoma Fire Department, where he retired in 2021 as Assistant Hazmat Director, Steven has pursued a specialized hazardous materials course of study throughout his career.
Steven holds a Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security (Spring 2024) and an Emergency Management and Planning Certificate (Fall 2023) from Northeastern State University in Broken Arrow, OK.
Steven is an authorized OSHA instructor through the University of Texas Arlington and instructs for Tulsa Technology Center (TTC) and Kiamichi Vo-Tech Schools, providing hazwoper, permit-required confined space, and OSHA training across Eastern Oklahoma.
Steven has been a certified CBRN / C-WMD hazardous materials instructor for U.S. Homeland Security at the Center for Domestic Preparedness, Oklahoma State University Fire Service Training, and with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) serving in Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe to build and deliver curriculum, hazmat capable personnel, and the ability to sustain training through train the trainer programs.
Steven is a NOAA-certified CAMEO instructor and has taught for Louisiana State University across the United States, Morocco, and Kenya. He has also taught the CAMEO suite through DTRA in Senegal, Albania, and Oman.
Steven served as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) briefing Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy on Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA) enhancement and federal engagement on the state and local level.

There is so much to say about Morocco. From the coastal cities of Tangiers, Rabat, and Casablanca to the beauty of the deserts surrounding Marrakesh, I have loved all of It. This picture was taken at the Roman ruins outside of Fez.
Morocco was my first venture outside of the United States, and the guys at the 5th Engineering Brigade out of Kenitra will always hold a special place for me.
